Pre-Purchase Inspection

Why we offer two levels of car inspection?
A – You probably are primarily concerned with the soundness of the vehicle’s mechanical systems.
Should you live in Sydney and have inspected the function of the windows, doors, wipers etc. why pay us to inspect the obvious. We therefore suggest that you select option 1 :
Should you live intra or interstate and not seen the vehicle,
option 2 might be your better choice.

Pre-Purchase Frequently Asked Question 2
Why we don’t to offer a mobile service to inspect vehicles at the vendors premises?
A - In order for our technicians to fully inspect the under portion of the vehicle, the suspension, the exhaust, the brake pipes and hoses to name just a few items, the vehicle needs to be up on hoist to give us total access to all the sections that to be inspected. The total time you are paying for is devoted to the inspection and not a technicians wasted time driving around Sydney to get to the vendor.

Pre-Purchase Frequently Asked Question 3
Why do we need the vehicle for 4 to 5 hours?
A -The cost of the inspection is directly related to the time we invest in examining your vehicle. Firstly we do a diagnostic drivability test this can take up to 20 minutes, this includes traveling over various types of surfaces and inclines. There after we raise the vehicle up on a hoist for the item by item inspection

Pre-Purchase Frequently Asked Question 4
How soon will I get a report?
A - On the day of the inspection we will give you both a verbal report and an interpretation of the report. Should you have an email address we will email you a copy of the report by the end of business that day.

Pre-Purchase Frequently Asked Question 5
Will the motor dealer agree to bring the vehicle to us for inspection?
A - The higher the cost of the vehicle the more important it is for you to know what the actual condition of the vehicle is that you are considering buying. If the dealer is keen on selling the car and believes that it is in good condition he will organise to bring it to us.
Should the dealer undertake to fix any defects we have found, we will re-inspect the reported defects at a reduced price.

Pre-Purchase Frequently Asked Question 6
Why does cost of the inspection vary from vehicle to vehicle?
A - Once again the cost of the inspection is directly related to the time we spend examining the vehicle. From experience we know the time we need to invest in different vehicles in order to give you a meaningful report.

Hi Harold
Thank you for the test results for the car tested today
Further to our chat this afternoon & Gil's offer to refund an amount for the test work not undertaken.
Again please pass on my thanks to Gil for the high ethical standards and professionality of your organisation in presenting me with the option to abort the testing and save some money on what appears to be a car that is not a desirable purchase due to its many and varied mechanical problems.
I won’t hesitate to recommend your services should the occasion arise.
Many thanks
Dale

Pre purchase inspection referral

Gil:

I know I did this on the phone yesterday, but I wanted to go on written record to say thank you so much for doing such a thorough inspection yesterday on the Astra I was looking at buying. As a total car nut of 49 years with an insatiable appetite for detail, I was so impressed at the lengths you went to in doing the inspection. The fact that you took the time to call me and explain some of the items you found was the icing on the cake. I can see why you come recommended by the NRMA. I elected not buy it based on your inspection findings, so you saved me a lot of effort and grief in buying the car which had a few worries.
So well done to you and your team. I will certainly use you again if I ever look to buying a car in Sydney again and will not hesitate to recommend you to my family and friends. Please feel free to use this email as an endorsement.

Yours sincerely

  • More engines have been destroyed by oil filters than any other filter on the car
  • Due to fuel combustion contaminants are deposited in the engine oil.
  • As a result the oil Is thicker and does not flow as easily through the narrow channels leading from the sump to the pistons and bearings.
  • In addition oil is consumed during the normal operation of the engine. This means that there is less oil in the sump for circulation through the engine.
  • The function of the oil filter is as the name suggests, to trap the burnt carbon particles in the oil and not allow them the to return to the parts in the engine that require constant lubrication.
  • As more and more contaminants are trapped the flow of oil flow through the oil filter is impeded.
  • The compound effect of the thickened oil due to burn off and contaminant pickup eventually blocks the filter medium completely.
  • The filter housing has a release valve which opens and sends the unfiltered oil back into the engine and this is the beginning of the end for your engine.
